Thank you Bangor!

Thank you for the confidence, support and trust you displayed in electing me as the newest Bangor City Councilor.

The number one concern voiced to me throughout the campaign was to keep property taxes low. I know we face some financial challenges in the coming year but I'm happy to report that the current council has already put a plan in place to start working on next year's budget. I look forward to joining that process and being a part of the discussions with each and every city department manager to ensure we have priorities and spending in line.

Another major concern voiced during the campaign was the future of our city for our children and grandchildren. In order to make Bangor a city of choice for future generations, we must look at economic opportunity and make the most of our strengths and resources to build a business friendly environment. I've been engaged in that activity with community leaders prior to the election and I look forward to continuing that work as a member of the council.

And finally, I know there has been a considerable amount of talk about the new vision and direction for Bangor. It is my goal that no matter what the details of that vision may be, that it's the right vision for Bangor and it's clearly communicated to all in the community. In my opinion, the new vision needs to be one of collaboration, communication and cooperation among city officials, community leaders and the residents of Bangor.

I am humbled by the support and thankful for your vote of confidence. I look forward to the tasks and opporutunities ahead.

Sincerely,

Cary Weston
